Item analysis allows you to look at the performance of your questions (items) and identify weak questions. Using item analysis, you can identify questions which your participants find too easy, too hard or which show ambiguity. If you then review such questions and either improve them or remove them, you can significantly improve the validity, reliability and trustworthiness of your assessment. This introductory session is aimed at newcomers to assessment or those who are not familiar with item analysis. Key learning objectives include:

  • Introduce key statistics presented in Questionmark's item analysis report
  • Demonstrate how to spot borderline and poorly performing items
  • Examine practical applications of item analysis

Multiple-choice assessments can cause major headaches for L&D, the organization, and individual test takers. One of the biggest problems is that they often don't measure what they need to measure. Measuring the wrong things means they waste resources, frustrate users, and don't provide valuable information to the organization.

Research tells us how to assure that assessments measure what they need to measure.  The good news is that these tactics are straight-forward and easy to apply.

During this webinar, you will learn:

  • What multiple-choice questions should measure
  • When you can use multiple-choice questions and when they won't work as well
  • How to write multiple-choice questions that measure needed learning outcomes

Presenter, Patti Shank, PhD, teaches practitioners, instructors, and organizations how to build worthwhile multiple-choice assessments. This one-hour session gives an overview of the needed tactics for valid multiple-choice questions.

Is it possible to prevent cheating on workplace exams?

Tests and exams given in the workplace serve a purpose – they are used to make important decisions. When employees cheat, they devalue that purpose and the integrity of your business suffers. If an employee cheats once, they might cheat on other things. This can lead to regulatory fines, further diminishing the integrity of your business.

This webinar covers:

  • Understand what real world risks there are of cheating at tests in a corporate/workplace environment
  • Learn common mitigations and approaches to reduce cheating
  • Understand the advantages and disadvantages of an LMS versus an assessment management system for tests in the workplace

Presented by John Kleeman, Founder and Executive Director of Questionmark, this one-hour session gives an overview of the risks to consider and measures you can take to prevent cheating on workplace exams.

Is it possible to assess someone’s abilities to make judgements and decisions when they are faced with a dilemma? Traditional knowledge-based tests and exams are designed to demonstrate what participants can remember, not what they can do. Whether used in recruitment, onboarding, compliance, training, career advancement or certification, assessments that go "beyond recall" offer organizations many distinct benefits. As organizations face increasing scrutiny for how decision-making and judgment are exercised in the workplace, it is more important than ever that competency assessments focus not just on measuring knowledge but also on the deeper goal of gauging the cognitive abilities and skills that make for effective job performance including the exercise of judgment.

This session gives a general overview of why it’s important to go beyond recall in competency assessments, describes some routes to do so, and gives a practical introduction to how situational judgment assessments can measure the abilities of employees to solve problems, make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
