5. Install the ETL service on your ETL server

Applies to the following products:
Questionmark Perception
Applies to the following Perception versions:
Perception 5.7

The ETL service will be installed on your ETL server.

Once you have installed the prerequisites (including a database system) on your ETL server, you can install the ETL service on this server. Copy the installer to that server and follow the steps below.

By default, users do not have administrative user rights if you are logged on as a user other than the built-in administrator on each server. This is also true even if you were added to the local Administrators group on the computer (this is a new security feature in Windows Server called Local User Administrator). If you do not have these privileges, Perception will not install correctly. Log in as the built-in administrator account, or explicitly invoke applications as the built-in administrator by using the Run as administrator command.

You will need to make sure you are logged in as an administrator when completing the installation of Perception.

To install the ETL Services Server:

  1. Launch the installer as an administrative user (see above for details), entering the password when prompted.
  2. Select Custom from the Setup Type window.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select the ETL Services Server option.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Choose where you would like to install Perception and the application data, including repository files (please note that the Repository files folder will not actually be created on this server, as it is only needed on the Business Logic tier).

You can keep the default locations or click Browse to indicate an alternative path.

Keep in mind that the installation path for all parts of Perception must be the same on all servers, e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Questionmark\Perception5\.

  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Install.
